Potency Testing

Anandia Labs uses Waters ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC®) for cannabinoid analysis. Our UPLC is coupled to state-of-the-art Waters tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) and photo diode array (UPLC-PDA) detection systems, providing unparalleled sensitivity and selectivity. Unlike gas chromatography, liquid chromatography does not heat samples, allowing precise measurements of heat sensitive compounds such as cannabinoid acids. For potency testing THCA, THC, CBDA, CBD, and cannabinol (CBN) are quantified and total percent by weight equivalents (cannabinoid acids plus neutral forms) are reported. Potency testing can be performed on fresh or dried cannabis flower (bud), extracts, oils, and tinctures. Anandia Labs’ UPLC-MS/MS in-house validated methods are in compliance with ICH Q2/FDA Bioanalytical Method Validation guidelines.
